Foundations
This foundation section covers the first two sessions.
Before a single number is calculated, the quality of a conclusion is already set by how the experiment was designed.
How can we best design experiments?
What are good components of a well designed experiment?
This foundational section introduces you to
- the scope of data analytics,
- the kinds of data you will encounter in chemistry and biochemistry,
- the difference between exploratory and confirmatory research, and
- the principles of sound experimental design, including controls and replicates.
Good implementation of the concepts determines whether any later analysis has any meaning at all!
